David Cortright

David Cortright is an American peace scholar, teacher, and activist. Cortright advocates for peace and nonviolent behavior since his experience in the U.S. Army. He was drafted during the Vietnam war and started questioning the veracity of the facts shared by his superiors about the causes of war. Cortright decided to publicly oppose the Vietnam war joining a GI antiwar resistance, participating in antiwar demonstrations, and signing petitions together with other soldiers. Currently, he is the Director of Policy Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame and Chair of the Board of the Fourth Freedom Forum.
